A Chinese-designed "artificial sun," the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) has made an important advance, with plasma achieving a temperature of 100 million degrees, November 12, 2018. Located in Hefei, Anhui Province, EAST is a device designed to harness the energy of fusion. It has been designed by the Institute of Plasma Physics, which is part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
