Nirvana in bloodbath: Portraits of Nanjing Massacre survivors
5/7
Ai Yiying, a survivor of the Nanjing Massacre. On a chilling winter day in 1937, Japanese troops took away her father, uncles and cousin, who were hiding themselves in a cowshed, and killed them at the village. Nine-year-old Ai Yiying fled with her mother and her younger brother and sister to the refugee zone in Qixia District of Nanjing. 12 people of Ai Yiying's family died in the Nanjing Massacre.
