Protests erupt in D.C. with Brett Kavanaugh sworn in as U.S. Supreme Court Justice

Hundreds of protesters gathered Saturday near Capitol Hill and the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington D.C. in opposition to the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh as Supreme Court Justice.

The nomination by President Trump was confirmed 50-48 by the U.S. Senate on the same day. Kavanaugh was sworn in as the 114th justice of the U.S. Supreme Court shortly after the confirmation.

The confirmation drew national attention in the country, not only because of the stakes of the country's highest court and Kavanaugh's conservative views, but also because of the sexual assault allegation made against him by Californian professor Christine Blasey Ford.

Shouting "we believe survivors", "November is coming" and others, protesters occupied spaces near Capitol Hill and the Supreme Court. It's was estimated that more than 400 protesters were arrested on Friday and Saturday.
