AI and hotline assist tourist police in Sanya

The city of Sanya in Hainan is heading to its tourism industry 3.0. With the help of artificial intelligence and the 12301 tourist hotline, tourist police in Sanya are providing a safer and better environment for visitors.

Sanya's police service is the first in China to set up a Tourism Police Department, with an exclusive portfolio of maintaining tourism-related security and social order. Since its inception, incidents involving forceful tour guides or ridiculously high-priced dining are now nowhere to be found in the southern city in Hainan. Tourism litigation cases have fallen off a cliff, from 159 cases in 2013, to 1 last year.
