A researcher in the Lunar Palace 1 control room monitors the situation inside the simulated space lab at Beihang University in Beijing on Saturday, April 21, 2018. In an ongoing year-long experiment that started on May 10 last year, eight volunteers, split into two groups, live in Lunar Palace 1 for shifts lasting 60, 200, and 105 days respectively. The experiment was designed to see how the Bio-regenerative Life Support System, containing animals, plants, and microorganisms, might work in a lunar environment. It also tests how well humans can mentally and physically cope in such an environment. [Photo: China Plus]
