A visitor inspects a nearly two meter tall 18th-century mechanical clock from the UK at a branch of Beijing's Palace Museum, also known as the Forbidden City. The clock is part of an exhibition that opened in May 2017 on the resort island of Gulangyu in Xiamen, Fujian Province. The exhibition showcases foreign antiques collected by the Palace Museum including chinaware from Europe and Japan, snuff boxes imported from the West, fabric, furniture, and scientific instruments used in the imperial palace.
