China's 'first highway' to open to the public

Photo shows visitors walking on Qin Zhi Dao in Gansu Province, reputed to be China's first national highway. Built some 2,200 years ago during the reign of China's first emperor, Qin Shihuang, the ancient military transport corridor runs from today's Shaanxi Province, home to the former Qin capital Chang'an (present day Xi'an) through Gansu and into Inner Mongolia.
