Lanterns in Nanjing tested for upcoming Chinese New Year

The hat of an exam champion, which represents a good student in Chinese culture, undergoes a lighting test on January 15, 2019 for the upcoming Qinhuai Lantern Fair in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. The annual Qinhuai Lantern Fair is a local folk culture festival in Nanjing for the Chinese New Year. The Lantern Fair is the oldest recorded holiday event in the country that can be dated back to 420 AD. In traditional China, colorful lanterns with riddles would be hung up for people to play with and literates would write poems for the fair.
