Heron struggling to swallow a fish too big

A heron struggles to swallow a fish. The bird looks as though it has bitten off more than it can chew while struggling to swallow its catch. The heron flipped its dinner about in its beak for five minutes before finally managing to get it down. This scene was captured by photographer Richard Shepard in the Viera Wetlands, Florida moments after it speared the 12-inch-long Nile tilapia using its long beak.
