The life of distinguished Chinese diplomat Li Shengjiao

As Counselor with the Chinese Mission, Li Shengjiao participated in the 10 year-long United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea from 1972 to 1982, which resulted in the creation of UNCLOS. He helped draft the Chinese version of UNCLOS, and also helped draft the English version of UNCLOS. Today marks the first anniversary of the death of Li Shengjiao, a distinguished Chinese diplomat. He was among the first generation of diplomats who were sent abroad following the establishment of People's Republic of China in 1949. He was praised by former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai for his talent and contributions. He represented China in multiple international meetings and negotiations, with authorities saying he made major contributions to China's national interests. His research results also received high recognition from Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou and other top Chinese leaders.
