In 1987, Li Shengjiao was appointed the Acting Chinese Ambassador to Barbados. He actively promoted cooperation between China and Barbados in various fields, laying a foundation for today's friendly ties between the two countries. Today marks the first anniversary of the death of Li Shengjiao, a distinguished Chinese diplomat. He was among the first generation of diplomats who were sent abroad following the establishment of People's Republic of China in 1949. He was praised by former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai for his talent and contributions. He represented China in multiple international meetings and negotiations, with authorities saying he made major contributions to China's national interests. His research results also received high recognition from Chairman Mao, Premier Zhou and other top Chinese leaders.
